Nice Guy captures the complexities within the Black male diaspora through modern social archetypes, many of which confine men and hinder many from evolving into their most complete, comprehensive selves. Nice Guy unpacks these layered tropes, following one young man’s journey to embody what he believes is the ideal man, only to have that very idea tested, deconstructed, and redefined before his eyes.

PROTECT YOUR HEART

Our Core Values

Knowing self is the greatest asset in a world that defines what being a true Alpha Male is supposed to be. Breaking barriers and cultivating change within yourself as a Black man allows you to show up for yourself and your community, which can move mountains.  The time is now!

Impact

This film will speak to the masses on the important conversation on the Black male identity and what that means. What is socially acceptable, and what is not. It’s addressing narratives that ultimately are barriers that must be tackled head on. Nice Guy Short Film will also serve as a practical training ground for emerging filmmakers. With students being given hands on experience with professional production methods, teamwork under real conditions, and exposure to festival networks. This film will also contribute to the university’s reputation for nurturing creative talent ready for the film industry.
